The Havoc brought by Yolanda

After witnessing the aftermath caused by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Bohol and in some areas in Cebu, people again are getting their fingers crossed to the next threat that will cause a massive destruction particularly in the parts of Eastern Visayas. This time nature said it will be a supertyphoon in the name of Yolanda or Haiyan. Well, I really don’t have any idea how destructive this typhoon will be until such time I was able to see it with my own eyes how it destroyed tremendously the entire Eastern Visayas and the Northern part of Cebu.

Two days prior to the landfall of Yolanda, the whole nation prepared for its coming that even classes and those who have work are already suspended. It was all throughout prepared when that day came, at around 9:00 o’clock in the morning, the threatening ominous clouds showed up, wind is starting to rage its fury causing the trees to sway and bend as well as the rain pouring heavily till our place flooded. As announced, brownout and water shortage occurred causing us to save as much as we could till next day comes.

As the typhoon continuously savaged the place we’re living, I realized that this one is different. As our house combatted against the strong winds and the huge raindrops causing loudness hitting roofs, I just remembered what I saw on a weather forecast. Truly, it  was a supertyphoon with a maximum category-five storm with gusts of up to 235 mph. Furthermore, It is said to pass through Northern Cebu Area to Eastern Visayas. To think of how strong the wind this was that made the whole town of Tacloban devastated as storm surge of about 4m flushed away all the properties and establishments they have. The storm displayed some characteristics of an annular tropical cyclone.

Although natural disasters are hard to mitigate, all I can say is that preparations are necessary. I just can’t imagine the havoc Yolanda had brought to the country especially for those people who have lost a loved one. Casualties have increased its toll to the extent that some are still missing. I was even horrified that throughout Tacloban City, widespread looting took place in the days following Haiyan's passage and in some instances, relief trucks were even attacked and had food stolen in the city.

Many typhoons have tested our preparedness but still, we are helpless. Many have also pledged to help the country but I wonder where did it go or were the victims of this tragedy benefited to all of those. I think there’s more to tell about this drastic scenario but what I’m being concern is the security of the people and their health to safeguard from illnesses and diseases. I know there are stronger than Yolanda so we should be alert and equipped anytime. Having faith and strength to withstand all these calamities are the key to keep us safe and hold on to whatever obstacles may arrive for the future.

HOW POLITICAL SCIENCE SUPPLIED MY POLITICAL AWARENESS

The need to be aware and keep abreast for our nation’s political issues and concepts has to be inoculated into the minds of each Filipino individual. I think it should be or else many people will be hungered for the truth and be blinded for the obscured things the entire government system is running. Just as we know, there are a lot of laws formed for our benefit but what are exactly the conditions and sanctions embodied to each of it? We keep on complaining about almost everything and poke the government to do something but the problem is we never dare to go deeper into the situation or even tried to check that our government really pushes their limits for the sake of serving the Filipino people. This and all of the political problems we have in this country are just fractions into studying the science of Politics, it is in the name of Polsci itself.

From the definition itself being a systematic study of the state and government, political science deals with the basic questions about power, authority, social values, and political manipulation. These are the ways that societies determine their collective priorities and attempt to bring them into being. In such a short span of time, spending and dealing with this important subject, Political Science has taught me a couple of things about the society and the way our dear  government run things according to its laws and constitutions established into this country.  It was one way or another the clamor for social awareness aroused once again as we got deeper into the subject and learned that each constitution has its own background and purpose why such enacted and who will benefit the provisions. Over all, it fueled my dry ideologies and it shed me light that we have the authority and power over the ones we appointed to rule our land and hear our cries. The subject awakened my political consciousness and encourages us that we should take part in the government so to say.

Being an introductory part and coined as the ‘prologue’ of the constitution, the preamble serves as
an aid of interpretation which has an objective to establish a justice system and government to maintain order and peace. The different citizenship values contained in the preamble of the Philippine constitution include freedom, love, truth, justice, equality and peace.

Furthermore, since the Philippines is a democratic and a republican state, the bill of rights, the observance of the rule of majority, presence of election through popular will and the like are manifested and are exercised by the people nowadays as a privilege given by the government. Suffrage as conferred by the constitutional provision, is not a natural right of the citizens, but a political right intended to enable them to participate in the process of government to assure it derives its powers from the consent of the governed. Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country and has the right of equal access to public service in his country. The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government as this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures. The civilian authority is supreme over the military because this authority comes from the people voting while the military authority on the other hand, is not in an electoral category. Given that we, as citizens of the Philippine republic have the right to revolt if only a certain constitution is sufficiently provoked by oppression or abuses.

Also, political science intrigues me in a sense that the separation of the church and the state shall be inviolable. It answered my question why can’t the church interfere with the government’s decision of enforcing laws (like RH Bill) when in fact the church strongly disagreed to it and several attempts were made just to halt the President’s approval of it. And that is because the church is purely on ecclesiastical affairs which involve the relationship between the churches while the state is purely on secular matters.

As a Filipino citizen, I got interested about the bill of rights enumerated by the constitution and as I scrutinized every single detail about it, most them are giving us the freedom to do something for the benefit of humanity like the freedom of speech with emphasizes our right to speak and be heard what the masses should know.

Again in such a short period of time, I was able to look through everything about our government. I was able to take a grasp of what could have been my lost if I didn’t take the subject seriously or if I taken this for granted. The schedule of our class doesn’t matter because as long as you listen to our dear instructor attentively, you will get what you deserve and that would be the insights that can be applied in today’s run of government.

In today’s time, every Filipino citizen should be involved in any political matters. Let everyone be aware that we have the power and authority to express and let our voices be heard for the improvement of our government and be receptive towards the changes that will come over time. I know political science doesn’t limit to politics and government but it has its mission to create a good citizenship and build credible democratic values to the people being concerned to this. Thus, the study of Political Science has special importance in all countries. Its study helps us to understand the mechanism and constitutional systems of modern government.

Maritime regiment: Sportmanship at its best

With the attempt of bringing back what has been theirs, the Maritime regiment didn’t cease to outshine their other competitors for this year’s Siglakas event. Bagging the gold medals and other awards, they didn’t want to settle anything for less thus making them at the second spot in the over-all standing.

Teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and vigor... all into one makes the maritime regiment to be looked after.  For them, giving up is not an option and it has been in the bloodstream of the maritime league to fight against the odds and set forth to excellence.  Being a champion years ago, it is most likely the participants under this college are honed beyond their limits and geared to get the glory back from the hands of the defending champion, the College of Medicine.

As the opening of the lively and festive Siglakas event paved way for the entrance of the maritime athletes, there were already loud cheers sided with heart-throbbing beats of the drum corps that bellowed the coliseum. With their built physique and vitality, others felt they have an advantage into sports like swimming, basketball, volleyball and the like.

“We know we will get the first place this time.”, says Bryan, a maritime student who cheers for the maritime brood.

The college made a striking performance in the track and field event where under the scorching heat of the sun, the maritime athletes were instead stimulated to leap higher and dash round the stretched oval that sprinted a victory of 7 golds, 4 silvers and 1 bronze medal. In the swimming event, endurance and stability were seen among the athletes as each one of them were trying to get first in lane but the maritime regiment which gathered 3 golds, 3 silvers and 5 bronze medals seemed to be quenched enough over the gigantic swimming competitors. In sepak takraw, the all-out effort exerted by the ‘maritime’ worth it, grabbing the championship title with 3 golds on hand.

They could have made an advancement in the basketball tournament when unfortunately, they were unlucky enough to get in the semi-finals. The team cut the round robin tournament after being under-pressured on an overtime play against the College of Dentistry.  In the volleyball men’s event, they made an advantage in firing up to the finals, this time it was against the unleashing power of the College of medicine.

Other sporting events such as the dart, table tennis, and taekwondo contributed a lot to the over-all performance of the maritime regiment for in the dart firsthand, they were able to bull’s eye a gold medal and a silver medal at the end as well as in the taekwondo whose powerful and swift kicks resulted to 2 silvers and 1 bronze medals. The college’s fate in the table tennis event mattered earning them 3 bronze medals.

But amidst the tension and pressure being laid upon to each of these sports, what makes the maritime athletes determined and persevering was because of the undying support and the optimistic spirit of their other colleagues. In every event the maritime regiment has to contend, be it into academic or sporting event they were always there to support their representatives from that day on till the night falls. Everytime you see the maritime playing, there were always a brood of men and a drum corps with them to cheer for their college. Cheering all the best that they could to keep the players withstand the tension and all.

For the maritime players, win or lose, what matters most is that they give their best with fair play and in friendly competition. Aside from striving hard for excellence, there’s no other thing they would ask for but the discipline that they could get in each event they are in. After all, the impression of the maritime regiment being excellent into sports will always there in the consciousness of other people that’s why even though they landed second in the over-all standing, they will aim higher and is looking forward to next year’s event promising they will dominate among others and bring back the glory that was from the maritime regiment. Congratulations! It was an excellent performance already.

I did my best.... but that best was not good enough

You know guys, my third year life of being a medtech stud is such a mess! Being bombarded with quizzes and assignments, it gives me a freaking feeling of what will I do first and what will follow next. Every night, I pore myself on studying hoping to pass for tomorrow's exam but when the exam papers are returned, I felt like crying blood.......................... I'M 'FAILED' AGAIN!!!!

Why? I did everything I can to pass and this is all I got? Poor me!

The Conjuring: not that scary at all..........:-(

Unlike everybody's impression about this movie, I probably have to go the other way. For me, it's thumbs down! Sad to say, it just wasted my money and it really broke my expectation that this movie could make me scream and shout in horror. Just because my classmates were making an impression that this movie would make you freak out of horror, we chose to watch this at school. I thought me and my friends would enjoy the thrills and the like when all we did was to wait for a VERY scary scene to come up. Well, you see the movie will make you nervous, will make you excited what would be the next but then it failed to make a shocking impact. I don't know how the scary thing affect to most viewers but I was really bored trying to connect how's the story going. (I hope you don't blame me for that).

For me, it was all throughout predictable. Aside from it is a demonic exorcism, it also involves paranormal activity which is for me a boring part to include. Well, I got so many questions about the doll, Annabelle. How is she related to the witch and whose spirit does this doll possessed? All these questions were hanging inside my mind that I even have to find the entire synopsis of the film. Even the ending is not that impressive at all. Sorry guys but I would prefer an 80's horror film like Hell raiser over this. The Conjuring is just OK but is not worth watching. 3 out of 5 stars for me.

I want more thrill,

There are only 2 books in this world: the BIBLE and the others

Reading the bible is one of the things I do during night time. Right now, I keep on reading the book of Sirach which I think is full of thought and makes sense to me. It helped me to correct my sinful me and widen my understanding to all kinds of people. If I would be given a chance to prove to you how bible is effective in changing your darker perspective in life, this blog is not enough for me to show you. There are many ways the bible can change each one of us. Just wait and see.

Before, I got difficulties in understanding the bible but now, since I have a Today's English Version bible it is easier for me to get what is meant from the verses.

As I keep on reading, it made me realize I was so wrong for what I did. It taught me to be patient and to love our own even though others persecute us. It showed me that God's love is eternal and these problems are just obstacles. It answered all my questions like why life is unfair and why do we have to undergo trials. All these things were answered by reading this sacred book.

I know that this world is not as perfect as we but if we live according to God's word, we can make the world a better place. For those people who see the world as useless and unjust, then think again. We may not see God physically but he's trying to establish a communication by means of reading the bible. I know some youth would think of this as boring but my brother Kenneth is different because he reads the bible everyday and watches to TV mass every afternoon. Thank God, He transformed my brother. Not all men find an interest to a bible.

The bible has changed the lives of millions of people by turning away from their vicious and criminal acts. Some had decided to serve the Lord with all their hearts by preaching and entering the monastery. If they were able to change it why can't us? I'm sure we can too!

With God, it's not too late. Read the bible now and feel God whispering His enlightening words to your ears.

Finding the right way,

Dysmenorrhea: A weakness to every woman.

When my monthly period comes, I feel like dying and I can't help myself from crying just to ease the unbearable pain brought by this menace, the dysmenorrhea.

In my case, the pain usually comes during my first or second day of menstruation. I'm confused why I'm still having my dysmenorrhea when I'm avoiding acidic foods and drinks. When the pain starts in my lower hip, I'm starting to sweat all over and I don't know how to relieve it. If I have the chance to lie on my bed, I'm trying my best to do all the positions just to lessen the pain. I even take Mefenamic Acid but its effectivity is not fast enough. Sipping a cup of tea somehow relieves the pain but only a little too. For me, the feeling is in indescribable making me freaking out and weak. Lucky for me if I immediately fall to sleep because the pain is gone by the time I wake up. If I'm to describe it, it is like someone pulled the thorn on my butt. I'm really relieved when the pain is gone. I'm having a nice feeling.

Two years ago, we went to a doctor and I told her about what I feel when dysmenorrhea strikes. She told me that eating acidic foods and drinking soft drinks is just OK but with moderation. As to taking pain-relievers, it should be taken before you feel pain to take effect. She prescribed me some medicine to regulate my blood circulation.

Because of this I was able to realize that when I'm having my 'normal days' I feel free and strong. I can do whatever I want but when the 'red days' comes in, it takes away all the things I wanna do. It takes my happiness away by inflicting me pain. The strong and brave Cindy will suddenly turn to a weak and helpless one. This is my weakness, when my red days comes.

Until now, I'm still having dysmenorrhea but sometimes when I do exercise, it doesn't come. I know I'm not the only one suffering this kind of pain monthly but there are millions of women having the same feeling as mine. With a good diet and exercise, I think I can alleviate the degree of pain but....I'm now prepared for a bloody and painful one everytime I have my period.

At last I'm now relieved,

When some things don't grow

One of the bitter realities that I should accept is the fact that I will no longer grow tall and be forever a petite. Imagine, I'm now 18 and I only stand 4 ft and 11 inches!

I know this is not so normal to teens reaching this age but what can I do? No height-enhancer supplements had helped me grow a little inch and even if I sleep longer hours, it won't help me grow anymore. Unlike my sister who sleeps longer and is taller than me. This reality is like a slap on my face!

I got this trait from my mom who is a petite woman. I think we have just the same height, 4 feet and 11 inches. Though this is what happened but I didn't blame mom for being a small girl while my sister is a tall girl. It just happened that I was the unlucky person given this short height. Pity I didn't get my father's gene to be a tall person.

I stopped growing when I entered highschool. I remember I got a wall to monitor my height everyday by drawing a line on top of me. During elementary, it was all fine I got progress about my height when it horrifies me by the time I entered highschool. I stuck on the last line! I took height-enhancer supplements everyday to somehow help my body produce growth hormones but then, I lack sleep at times due to stress and school pressures. I did anything I could to be tall but the sad thing was that I gain and gain more weight than keep on growing that's why I concluded that it's hopeless.

I'm a college girl now and I see no improvements at all. When I'm with my classmates, I look like an elementary kid. Most of them are taller and they are leaner in shape. Sometimes I lack self-confidence in front of many people.

Even though I was not blessed with a tall height I just hope that I'll get a job later on. Maybe I was made to be short for me to live forever young. I will not waste my time regretting about height because there are more things to consider than this. I guess I should be contented and be thankful I'm complete.

The petite at your service,
Cindy♥♥♥

My dog has a 'swimming-puppy syndrome'

notice Powie's legs like she's going to swim
Everytime I go out of the porch, I just can't bear to see my two little cute puppies suffer from pain. While their other siblings jump for joy to see me, the two try to crawl with their belly. I believe it is not their fault but rather I played a part of it. Everytime I see them lying there while the others playing makes me feel guilty I should have not made any intervention while they were still a little. I'm afraid I took Powie and Funky's joy to live like a normal dog and I'm afraid I can't get them to the normal state.

Actually their condition is just abrupt. For their first month, I gave them formulated milk coz I can't see all of them getting milk from their mother. To remind you, they are eleven of them and Kimmy, the mother has only 8 breasts so probably not all them could get milk. Since they were a small pup, we managed to get them drink in a baby bottle and we make 1 to 2 minutes duration before we get another pup. I do think that was a daily priority until we realized that we always run out of milk.

For the next 30 days, since their teeth started to grow, we decided to feed them rice and I think this is where I made my biggest mistake. Yeah, all of them eat it but my horrible observation was this: right after they eat their meal, their stomach got so big and so round. At first I thought they were just full but they lost appetite every other day. Some of them were shaking and I have the least idea what is happening to them.  Days passed, some have recovered but these two couldn't still make it.

Funky walks in short distances but stops
Powie going near me

I don't know what to call their condition until I look through the net and know about this swimming puppy syndrome. I watched some videos pertaining to this condition and it is the same as theirs. Overfeeding them when they were still young are one of the symptoms I've read. Crawling with their stomach is included. I noticed Powie's hind legs straight up like she's swimming and Funky's back arched when he is trying to walk. I gathered some infos about the cure but I do the therapy when I give them a bath.

Right now, they are 3 months old. Funky and Powie have a slow progression unlike their other siblings who can run and bark at times. It just gives me a confusion why such thing happened when I saw them able to walk when they were 2 months old. For now, I give them small amounts of food three times a day and I make sure there's a soup to make their food moist. Funky may sometimes shakes right after eating but that's because some food eaten was stuck on his hard palate. A water after meal is prepared for them.

Cherry holding our precious little ones
Though I'm in continuous search for their recovery, I'm always praying that God will help them with their condition. I know it will not be quick but I know that they will cope up. You know, they surprise me each and everyday by trying their best to stand and walk with their front and hind legs. How cute and thoughtful of them!

No matter what happens, I will do my best to save them from their condition.

Lots of Love,
Cindy♥♥♥

PS: It was full of sadness and grief that we had to say goodbye to Powie who just left last month due to parasitic infection. Powie was seen dead at around 4:00pm. Not long after Powie's death, Funky passed away too together w/ their mom Kimmy. May the cute little puppies  lie in the safe hands of our heavenly father who loves all His creations. RIP Powie, Funky and Kimmy

I got an update to this blog....finally:))

Wheww... after resizing my header photo for several times, here's my updated blog! Tadah!! I got my cartooned image from istockphoto, finally! Although, the image is just borrowed but I think it gave my blog a refreshing image compared from my last header that contains my wacky photos.:)) I swear I will never put my images in the header section.

So in order for me to give you a nice welcome, I just put a cartooned photo of myself (though I'm not saying that this photo was made exclusively for me) just to remind you of WHO I REALLY AM in person

Since school time is fast approaching, I will try my very best to post as many as I can to somehow enlighten your souls or know something that you may find interesting.

As usual, I promise to keep all my blogs in english but I can't assure you that I will be very brilliant in using flowering words to make my blogs nicer to read.

Hope you keep on following guys:))

Not so excited to school,

We are all GIFTED..

Each of us is gifted in our own ways. Don't ever think that you have no place to show your talents and skills here. I think we don't have to be famous just to realize that God gave us a special skill to be proud of. Whatever you do, whether you can sing or dance, act or do something extraordinary, that's a talent for you to nourish. We are all talented and God never failed to give us something we can use as we grow up.

Sometimes, when I'm watching singing search like the X Factor or Pilipinas Got Talent, it really amazes me to see bunch of talents who have the guts to show it to everyone. They are all wonderful and awesome that I'm having goosebumps whenever I see someone singing a song effortlessly.  WOW. I even imagine myself included in the show but that is unlikely to happen. LOL.

There are also peeps who go beyond the limit by doing the things others can't such as doing acrobatics, walking on fire and some that you've never thought it' would be possible. Even some of our disabled brothers and sisters can still do the things normal people do like playing the guitar and piano that makes them truly amazing!

I'm not saying that being a gifted person limits only to singing and dancing. Some may not have these 'showy talents' but God gave some people brilliant and creative minds to do something for the benefit of humanity,   and others to care and interrelate with other people as well. There are a lot of people who excel in science, mathematics, fashion and even known in public service.
No one has the right to say he is useless because we are created here to show what we got. In fact, we are here to share our abilities in order to please Him. Of course, since we are all gifted, it is just in our hands how we can develop or we can use this for the better. I believe that I, you, we have something to share. We are all gifted and God hopes you love what He has given you.

I hope God that you will help me develop what you've given me. I trust in you!

Still wondering,
Cindy♥♥♥

Nobody is born to be perfect...

For me, nobody is born to be perfect. Even the rich, famous, beautiful and all the lucky ones have flaws in life. It never happened in the history of existence that because they were born as such they have the perfect life all of us have yearned for. We thought that in their finer condition, they are happy and they don't need TRUE friends to console them. Because of our injudicious eyes, we see them as cruel or selfish but we never know how it feels like to be in their shoes or have any idea what they have gone through. Yeah, we might know their names but not their story.

In this generation, many people seem to be perfect. They seem to possess all the qualities all of us have wished for. They might have all the material things they want but the question is how is their heart doing? Could it be that they just acquire these things to hide their loneliness for a while and revert their thought about it? Who knows?

I think nobody is born to be perfect and the perfect persona I know is only God who made all these things possible. Every people whether rich or poor, beautiful or average, have a part to play in this world. Remember, we are just humans who simply die once we complete our mission. In God eyes, we are all equal regardless of our status here in this world. To note, we are His servants and we have to do by all means, his command and that is TO GIVE AND TO LOVE our human kind.

Well, if we are just persevering and dedicated, it is possible that we can have the life like theirs but remember we can never have a perfect life while we are still in this world. Remember that even the richest, famous, most beautiful have problems of their own and that's what we call LIFE.

Not perfect,

Cindy♥♥♥

J-dramas Fever......Otomen Live Action

As we spend our remaining days before school, we watched this Japanese drama and I think I learned something from it.

Otomen (Live Action) is a nice and a cute story about a guy who secretly likes girly things such as pink, stuffed toys and mangas and loves doing things such as sewing and cooking. Well, I just want to clarify that even though he likes all these things but he is a straight handsome man who excels in academics and in martial arts especially in kendo. Even though he has this unusual abilities, he just chose not to show it or else he'll break his promise to his mother. A promise that he will be a real man unlike his father.
certified otomen!!
The entire series centers about the love story of Masamune Asuka (the otomen) and Miyakozuka Ryo. Ryo, is the love interest of Asuka and is also good in martial arts. Even though she is a girl but she is not good in cooking and sewing, that's why Asuka feels the urge to help her when she is in trouble.

The casts made this drama a cute one because their faces are so kawaii especially Asuka and Tonomine. We also laughed because of the poor Isono who turns to be everybody's jest. Over all, the series is light and I see no boring moments after all.
Can I call you my crush, Isono-kun? LOL

Well, Otomen taught me to be true and honest at all times because if you'll just keep your true self from others, you won't achieve your true happiness within. Though the ending is not that awesome (I think it was the same ending as Yamato Nadeshiko but Ryo comes to be the intruder during the wedding) but I would still give 4 stars out of 5.

She was once my idol... but what happened to her?

Critics have been over- reacting to
Charice having her face
OVER edited on a mag
Whenever I read or hear news about my idol Charice, it always rings a bell for me to know what is happening to her. Five years ago, she was that international teen singing sensation who wowed the world for her beautiful and golden voice. Imagine, at age 14 she was internationally recognized for her wonderful talent and that several TV shows like Oprah and Ellen Degeneres show featured her.

I also admired her for her wholesome character despite of the criticisms stoned onto her. What amazed me is that those degrading things never turned her down because of her supportive mother and her intense faith on God.

Of course, issues are along the way of my idol but lately rumors have been spreading the net that Charice had a spite with her mother and there's something special between Charice and a X Factor contestant.. Well, I didn't believe all of it because I know Charice loves her mother so much and I don't want to give any malice with whatsoever her relationship to this girl. I didn't react to all of it when I just saw her 'new image'.recently.

As I saw her images, it was a way too far from the girly Charice I've admired. Like I never imagined Charice would like to be something the world didn't expect of her. Honestly, I don't like her edgy image today, having her boyish hair cut and her tattoo. For me, it is just ok because we have the same hairstyle but again I like the girly Charice better than now.

I can't believe this is Charice.
Well, I don't know if I'm going to believe that she is a lesbian but I've read an article about her mom Raquel, stating that she will support her daughter's decision if ever she will reveal her true self in public. As expected of a mother, I know Mrs. Pempengco would do everything just to protect her daughter.

As for me, Charice should have remained her girly image because it was that image that gave her a striking look and I think that made her edgy enough. I don't want to see her being a lesbian because I used to look at her  as a stunning performer looking great with dresses.

But no matter whatever changes Charice would make on to herself, she is still my idol when it comes to singing. I just hope that she won't forget what she'd been and will still be a good model to all the singing aspirants who want to reach for their dreams:)) I don't want you to be a tomboy Charice. I hope you go back to your own self.

As we were blessed with a dozen of cute little puppies:))

Hey there! Right now, I'm going to introduce to you my precious puppies that make my summer vacay so productive. Why? Because I nurse them. Haha.. It was really wonderful of Kimmy to have delivered eleven puppies all at once. At first, we had hard time recognizing each but as days passed their names made us remember how each of them differ in color and appearance.

WELCOME TO OUR WORLD:))

His name is Snoopy. He's so adorable and he obeys us.

This one is Champ. He's the smallest of the group but I found him very cute.

This little pup with a sassy smile is Marimar. She has bulgy eyes.

Funky is the shy type and the choosy pup in terms of food.

Jacob is the female counterpart of Marimar. He's one of the first barkers

This one is Sam. I so love his eyes.

Mocha seems to be the type of pup that loves to go outdoors. So she plays a lot outside.

The Glutton. Haha.. Chowder

This is Powie. She is different from other pups because she has a furry hair.

Since Gangnam style is very popular, we decided to name her Gangnam for us to recognize her easily

We don't know how to describe her color. She's different from the rest so Diffy is the name that fits her best

and the very beautiful but strong mother Kimmy whose great efforts made her delivered the unusual eleven puppies in her first pregnancy

SURVIVING MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY: How hard is MedTech to fail a many?

I and my bff Gerardine♥
MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN

As I was walking along the wide and well-lit corridors of the Medical Technology building, there I saw a flight of interns. They were wearing the very enticing blue scrub suits already, the color that shows they were now interns. As I watched them passing by, as a neophyte, a sudden thought hit upon me, ‘Wow, I wish I could be like them someday.’ but then a follow-up question burst in a split second, ‘but HOW am I going to be like them anyway?’

Well, we can not deny the fact that medical professions are one of the in-demand jobs of today. And because of that, schools that are offering medical courses are opening its doors wider to the increasing number of students who want to enter the field of medicine especially in medical technology.

It is sad to reminisce that we were once a big happy family in our block. I’ve got my circle of friends then, had enjoyed studying as well as working with them no matter how hard the circumstances were. I thought we will be just the same brood of med tech aspirants who will continue for the next journey when suddenly I have seen changes after every semester. The changes of not just having new load of subjects to study but the considerable amount of students who yielded for their ambitions. I was left with curiosity when I found out that one of my friends could no longer proceed to the course for a reason yet unknown.

As I’ve noticed, as the year level gets higher, the number of students tends to decline. Let’s say last year, 100 students were enrolled for the second semester then it happened that by the end of the said semester, only 90 students survived, feeling persistent that they should keep the fire burning while others took rest.

There are a handful of reasons why some who took the course relinquished. First, it is because of the financial security. Tuition fee increases yearly due to the requirement of having laboratory subjects and books as reference materials. Second is the lack of interest, some were just forced by their parents to take up the course without asking their thoughts about it. It is also when other carefree students prioritize things other than their studies. The major problem of having ‘terror teachers’ and ‘nosebleeding subjects’ is a nerve wrecking to all of us because it gives us heaps of chapters to study. Notions that third and fourth years are the crucial stages for the lives of each med tech students are true for this is the time we are getting closer to the reality and must be hands-on to the profession. What made medical technology a course to be pondered upon is that it requires a lot of familiarization and a keen sense of understanding to things within a scope. Take note, we juggle 9 major subjects! Time to time, we can’t expect reposing ourselves but keep on spending sleepless nights and think endless possibilities of failing because the pressure keeps up. A single failure might pulls us down and it might lead to resignation, letting fate take its course after failing an exam.

it is not easy during moving
exams
These observations are appalling knowing that some were discouraged, crestfallen, and doubtful if they are still on the right track.

Then here goes my realization about this dilemma: Medical Technology is not as easy as ‘peanuts’. It needs hardwork and not to be taken for granted. Hence, we must explore beyond its depths and be more passionate about it. That is why I was able to relate this with the bible verse that says 'Many are called but few are chosen' because we see good students right at the beginning, feeling so sure of themselves but as time passes by, only those ‘survivor’ Med Tech students came out to be the victors of the bloodshed. We want to be registered Med Techs someday but the problem is, are we competent enough to surpass the test of time?

This course challenges us to be more responsible and be persistent to our focus no matter what happens. Getting involved with this field of study requires much of our interest, skill, and diligence to heed what is being asked on time because it involves diagnosis to various illnesses found in the human body. I’m writing this not to dissuade people but I want to plant an infinitesimal yet a germinating seed to the minds of each Med Tech students to fight against the odds. We must fuel our minds with positivity amidst of the trials hindering our way and should have an incessant faith to the Providence that by the end of this strife, we will find ourselves grasping the sweet scent of our diploma and the opportunity of serving the masses using our high caliber skills our dedicated teachers instilled into us. I hope that we’ll be able to keep on making footprints on our way to the zenith of success because together, by believing in ourselves and to God’s will, we can do it. Believe and you'll be RMT someday...Kudos to everyone!

What makes my Wednesday night HA-HA-HAPPY :D

Oh yeah!!
Every Wednesday evening, we always get this non-stop laughs with my siblings. It is because my old favorite comedy show is back! Thanks to Jeepney TV they brought PWEDENG- PWEDE again.

When this show was aired way back 1999, I was five years old then. If I'm not mistaken, its time slot was every Wednesday night (same time as we are watching it now on Jeepney TV).

This show takes my stress away as they make me laugh to their cantankerous acts and their funny spoofs. Won't you laugh if you see the funny looks of the late Redford White and Palito, plus packed with the action superstar Robin Padilla? It is really funny, I swear you will laugh. (if you're not a KJ!!)

Though some casts in the show were now gone like the ones mentioned and the late Nida Blanca but for me they are still alive. They are still making other people laugh because of their sitcoms. They are really the faces of Philippine comedy and these names will never fade in this industry.

Pwedeng-pwede is one of my favorite comedy shows. Even though it is an old TV show but still, I'm loving it. I hope ABS-CBN could make a funny sitcom like this one because  nowadays as what I've observed, Philippine Television is more on reviving and remaking what has been a trend years ago. So to speak, no originality! I'm now sick and tired of watching love stories! Duh!

Back to the topic, this show fills my happiness during the night. If you try to watch this you may be hooked with it. As for my case, I really love it. I even try not miss a single episode.

Well, this ends my thoughts about the show. Jeepney TV is so brilliant they bring me back to my childhood memories. I'm looking forward to the next Wednesday's episode. I'm so excited.

Upon going to Cebu Common Treatment Facility Incorporated (CCTFI)

photo from cctfi.com
The thought of going to Inayawan dumpsite  made me so interested for some reasons. I know I would be seeing a huge mountain of garbages and smelling it but I wanted to know how is the condition of this dumpsite now. Well, as we were heading our way to the water treatment office, my scrutinizing eyes witnessed how all our trashes were being dumped. Yes, I was appalled on the huge mount of garbages while ignoring the ‘heavenly like’ smell and the pestering ‘big as a bee’ flies trying to get near us but I never realized that despite of having the dumpsite in the place, will also be a water treatment facility and it is the Cebu Common Treatment Facility Incorporated.

This facility treats hazardous wastes generated by the electroplating industry, and other industries that produces the same kind of waste. It offers environmental services to treat their client’s wastes. They do the following: wastewater treatment in their modern facility, handling and transport of the hazardous wastes, designing solutions for special wastewater and collecting sludge for treatment. Upon arriving to the said facility, we were then introduced by the lecturer to explain all about the water treatment process and how they do the treating by using their modern equipment. The wastewater treatment involves in these various processes: waste transport, analysis, storage, treatment, disposal, sludge treatment and its disposal.

For me, it is not an easy job because the lecturer told us that various chemicals were being used and its calibration is very important for the water treatment process to be successful. Also, we were introduced to their machines and tanks that gave us an idea how they control the chemicals to be used and where the water passes throughout the treatment. The facility is treating rinse water from plating lines or pickling baths, inorganic heavy metal-containing acidic or alkaline solutions, and galvanizing wastewater from their clients.

We were also able to get inside their laboratory where we were shown how they do the water sampling. Depending on the composition of the wastewater, the chemist will propose appropriate procedures for its treatment. In regards to that, the chemist showed to us how much of an element is present in the water by putting a little nickel on the water sample and placed it inside the photometer. After a few seconds, the photometer detected about 10% nickel present in the water. That made us all amazed about how easy the procedure was.

Lastly, the lecturer discussed the sludge in which it is residual, semi-solid material left from the wastewater treatment process. They accept sludge from companies with their own wastewater treatment plants and a pre-treatment of the accepted sludge is done by skilled operators before being sent to accredited facilities for disposal options. The process of sludge treatment includes drying of sludge using their solar sludge dryer, grinding it if necessary, mixing it with chemicals and cure it for final disposal. That was my first time seeing the sludge placed inside a barrel. It was sticky and we were prohibited to touch it because of its smell too.

Well, I learned a lot from this visit. My questions have been answered. Although the treated water is not potable drinking water, it still assures us that the returned water in the areas of Mactan is free from toxic substances. I just hope that facilities like CCTFI, should monitor their equipments from time to time so as to further improve its performance in providing a clean treated water. I saluted all the staffs there in doing their job with dedication in providing clean water in the community.
